Everyone's idea of the perfect sky is different, from hazy and monochromatic to crisp and clear to colorful and moody. The goal for this project is to catalog as many examples of these endless possibilities.

Grace Ellay is thrilled to exhibit and promote one of its own, Silver Lake resident Dave Clark.

Artist Statement: For Sky, I traveled to California, Hawaii, New York and Arizona, always focusing my camera on the sky. I captured clouds, smog, fog, sunsets, sunrises, marine layers and smoke. Some images evoke a grand sense of scale; others focus on abstract shapes, palpable textures and surreal colors. Everyone's idea of the perfect sky is different, from hazy and monochromatic to crisp and clear to colorful and moody. My goal for this project is to catalog as many examples of these endless possibilities as I can find.

Dave Clark has lived in Los Angeles since 1998, where his business, Dave Clark Photography, is located. He specializes in travel photography and fine art landscapes and enjoys finding unusual details in common landscapes. Dave shoots primarily with medium-format Hasselblad cameras. After scanning the negatives, he produces archival-quality, pigment-based giclee prints.

Dave was born and raised in Auburn, California, a rural town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He graduated from the University of California, San Diego with two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Visual Arts/Media and another in Literature/Writing.
